How Much Does It Cost?

Now, of course, it would be great if all our hard earned cash could be spent on nights out and awesome things to see, do and eat. And, if you’re studying in Leicester, it’s one helluva place to do all of it. But, when it comes to student life, there are a few of the more boring things that need to be factored into the student living equation too. If you’re in the position of planning your budget for the coming year, you could be wondering how much does student accommodation cost in Leicester. And, the obvious answer is, there’s quite the range of accommodation that comes at an equally diverse set of prices, but the fact is, the earlier you get in there to bag your place, the more chance you have of getting the nicest digs at the best value.

Considerations That Can Affect Accommodation Costs

When looking for student accommodation in Leicester, do your research. Find out where are the best places for students to live – eg those which are walking distance of the universities, close to public transport links and have easy access to the all-important socialising part of being a student. Considerations you should bear in mind when looking at places should be the cost of the rent (and what this includes, such as utility bills) also, deposits, and whether any agency fees and admin fees are charged.

Westmanor Accommodation Starts at £85 Per Week

While other providers in the city offer student accommodation from £86, all the way up to a hefty £280 per week, at Westmanor we have a fantastic selection of property starting at £85 per week for rent. (And the majority of our properties’ rental costs include water and internet, with an energy allowance to boot). Take this six bed student property on Stretton Road in Leicester, as just one example, which is just off the famous Fosse Road South and only a 20 minute walk to De Montfort University. It has been recently refurbished to an extremely high standard, comes with all double bedrooms, two luxury bathrooms, a garden of its own and is a stone’s throw from the nightlife of Braunstone Gate, not to mention the DMU Student Union.

Make Sure You Check For all Costs With Your Provider

One thing to remember when looking out for student accommodation and checking to see what sort of a spend you’re looking at is to make sure you check for all costs with your provider. Here is a list of some of the things you should be asking about when you are on the hunt for a place to stay while you study in Leicester:

• Cost of rent and what is included in it.

• Deposit – what is the value of the deposit required by the agent? (For example, we charge a refundable damage deposit – from which £18 will be deducted for end of tenancy inspection/admin fee – the rest is refunded, should there be no problems).

• Admin Fee – ours is £18 which includes vat (as mentioned above).

• Agency fees – some providers charge agency fees for credit checks, applications etc – make sure you check if your provider has these (Westmanor do not).
