There are many different types of living arrangements you can have as a student, but when it’s Leicester student accommodation studio flats you’re looking for, here’s how to get it right.

You’ll find there are plenty of advantages of living in a studio as a student. They include the chance to have your own space, where you can just shut the door and leave the rest of the world behind it. It’s a great thing if you have plenty of studying to do and don’t want the noise of other people, or you just need a bit of alone time.

You can pretty much come and go, cook, watch TV and sleep as you please, fitting everything around your own routine, without the comings and goings of other flatmates to worry about.

If standard student partying isn’t really your thing, then again, studio accommodation means you can get away from it, whenever you’ve had enough. Also, with a studio flat, everything is close at hand, which means everything you need is right there, exactly when you need it. Oh, and you’ll get exclusive use of the bathroom, and the broadband tends to be much faster, too!

Leicester student accommodation studio flats tend to be extremely modern and a lot cheaper than larger student accommodation. A lot of student accommodation has popped up in recent years in the city and studio flats make up a big chunk of what’s available, so it’s well worth exploring all of your options when looking for what’s out there.

Get your location right

One of the downsides to studio accommodation is that you’ll be on your own (although it may indeed be one of the reasons why you’ve chosen studio accommodation). Because of this fact, it’s important to ensure your accommodation is in a safe and secure area.

Do your research and look into whether the area is known for dangerous crime, or whether it’s considered to be fairly safe. If you’re new to the area, and due to be living on your own, it’s definitely worth checking out the lay of the land, before you sign any contract.

You’ll want to check that the things which matter most to you are close at hand, whether that’s regular public transport, sport facilities and shops nearby, or the chance to socialise and meet up with friends who live close by, if and when you choose to do it.

In addition to getting the location right, there are other factors to consider as well, such as:

  • Your budget and what you can afford
  • Can you pay the bills on top of this?
  • What’s included in the rent – such as an energy allowance or water costs
  • Is there sufficient parking/bike storage nearby?
  • Security – is there CCTV or onsite security?
  • How far from your campus is it – could you walk it?
  • Do other students live nearby?
  • Is it furnished or unfurnished?
